In this conference for clergy and mental health professionals, explore ways to navigate the delicate balance between maintaining connection across great ideological differences, and caring for ourselves when our core values are challenged by that connection.

Description

Whether we serve entire religious communities, or work one-on-one with individuals in psychotherapy, we don’t always know the values that others are bringing into the healing spaces we are tasked with holding. While it always takes courage to serve a new person in that space, and to continually suffer with those that we care for, what happens when we discover that an individual holds values that are radically different from our own? What sort of courage is needed when we perceive those values as being violently opposed to those we hold, and how can we cultivate that courage even as we work to connect with those individuals? In this conference for clergy and mental health professionals, explore ways to navigate the delicate balance between maintaining connection across great ideological differences, and caring for ourselves when our core values are challenged by that connection.
