The ego wants to sentimentalize or romanticize the process of individuation, but becoming an individual is laborious and painful. The ego talks of the process as a "journey" and many times self-deceives by assuming that because we say we are on a journey, we are! This lecture addresses the natural call to consciousness and the equally natural resistance to it.
