Frogs Don’t Sing Red follows the arc of a restless life framed by song. From childhood wonder and sensory experience to meditations on the complexity of parents, motherhood, and relationship, it flows into watery poems about potions, birth, dreams, the sea, the threat and shackles of a first marriage, and the jagged edges of loneliness. A leap into the unknown’s liminal space follows with its vagaries of travel, fairy tales, home, the renewal of desire and a new love. With the “owl of death hovering,” the poet finally explores the face of loss and grief, finding strength and a path forward in the city of light. 

In addition to her history as a long-time writing instructor at The Jung Center, Sandi Stromberg is an award-winning poet with Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominations.  She guest edited Untameable City and co-edited Echoes of the Cordillera, both poetry anthologies. She currently serves on the editorial staff of The Ekphrastic Review.
