The Psychology of C.G. Jung and Paul Tillich

Explore the connections between psychology and theology in this course based on the book The Psyche as Sacrament by John Dourley. Both Jungian analyst and Roman Catholic priest, Dourley examines Carl Jung's psychology along with the writing of Protestant theologian Paul Tillich to demonstrate how psychology and religion are yoked disciplines, each informing the other. We will discuss such common themes as experience, inner resources, reality, individuation as a religious process, the nature of Tillich's "Ground of Being," and Jung's concept of the Self.
