Encounter the enduring, often misunderstood wisdom of Stoicism. In contemporary use, Stoicism has come to mean a kind of steel-hearted, unemotional approach to life that seems, frankly, more mechanical or inanimate than truly human. This is not an accurate understanding of Stoics or the philosophy they live. In this lecture, we review the central tenets of this rich philosophical tradition. We see that the Stoics have a powerful relationship to the facts of reality - as it is, not as we wish it to be - which opens the possibility for deep peace, acceptance and compassion in life.
