Susan Meindl
Saturday, March 11
12 - 3pm
Potentially appropriate for 3 CEs

Join us as we explore some typically difficult relational dynamics encountered by empathic people, consider the dangers of a “too empathic” position in these situations, and think about how the practice of mature and skillful empathy can create more balanced relationships.

Description

This workshop continues our thinking on the important place of empathy in human life, and expands on Susan Meindl's previous lecture on "Naïve Empathy." Previous participation is not required! Join us as we explore some typically difficult relational dynamics encountered by empathic people, consider the dangers of a “too empathic” position in these situations, and think about how the practice of mature and skillful empathy can create more balanced relationships. We will also look at how a currently-existing feminist ethical structure – based on the values of caring and responsibility – creates a matrix for mature and healthy empathic relationships. Finally we will think about the essential role mature empathy plays in the Jungian process of Individuation.

This workshop is open to all who are interested.  You do not have to be a mental health professional to register.

This program is being offered ONLINE only. Recordings will be distributed to registrants only, and are not available for individual purchase.

All times are CT. Please contact onlinelearning@junghouston.org with any questions.

Please register early. Programs with four or fewer participants are subject to cancellation, 48 hours prior to their start.
