Description

Explore the basics of ink painting, including brush techniques, ink dilution and expressive mark making. The mind body connection can inspire and help us to become more creative and expressive. Through guided demonstrations and simple exercises, students will learn how to create dynamic, balanced and unique compositions. Learn how to use brushstrokes to convey emotion and movement.


Leslie Cuenca is an artist and yoga teacher born in Havana, Cuba and living in the USA. She studied art history and painting at the University of St. Thomas and Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas. She graduated with a Liberal Arts degree, and she studied art, architecture, and theology in Italy in 2003. After visiting Japan and taking courses in ink painting in 2017, Leslie turned to ink as her primary medium. She studied yoga in Houston and northern India, receiving her teacher certification in 2013. She works in private studios throughout Houston, Sugar Land, and other institutions such as HCU and The Art League of Houston. Leslie worked as an artist and instructor for the MFAH and the Watercolor Society from 2023-2024.
