Description

This course offers an in-depth exploration of human rights through analysis and discussion of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Students will examine the historical and philosophical foundations of human rights, tracing their evolution from Enlightenment ideals to modern-day global frameworks.

Central to the course are the three generations of human rights: first-generation, civil and political rights, second-generation, economic, social, and cultural rights, and third-generation, collective and environmental rights. Through critical dialogue, case studies, and real-world examples, students will explore how these categories intersect with contemporary issues of equity, liberation, justice, and solidarity.
