Summary
Description
The formal and informal practice of mindfulness is simple yet not always easy. In this session, we will revisit some basic elements of practicing as well as generate tools for cultivating a habit for integrating mindfulness into daily routines. The benefits of mindfulness (reduced stress, focused attention, general well-being) occur as a result of regular practice - the formal as well as the informal.
Michele Pola, EdD, started her journey in 2007 into mindfulness initially through yoga, and in 2017 became a certified yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance at Joy Yoga University. In 2018, she became a trained facilitator through Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) of the Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Behavioral Medicine at UCLA. Today, she serves as a teacher of mindfulness with The Jung Center's Mind, Body, Spirit Institute, after having retired in 2014 with 35 years in the public and non-profit sector of education. Dr. Pola is an active member of American Leadership Forum (ALF) and has served numerous professional organizations, both as a volunteer and as a board member. One of her passions, after studying with Mark Coleman author of Awake in the Wild, is practicing mindfulness in nature. Michele offers private mindfulness sessions in nature by appointment.
