Join tenor Kenneth Gayle, actress Carolyn Johnson and pianist Rodney Waters in The Jung Center Gallery for an intimate, lyrical exploration of “The Soul’s Journey” in music and poetry by: Adams, Angelou, Bach, Barber, Bowie, Domond, Duparc, Gordon, Grenville, Lorde, Oliver and Verdi.

Kenneth Gayle is a Seattle native whose early musical aptitude has led to a lifelong involvement in musical performance, education and advocacy. Critically recognized for vocal beauty, musicality, and dramatic skill, his performing career as a tenor has included standard and new vocal repertoire on opera and concert stages throughout the United States. A frequent collaborator, Mr. Gayle has expanded his skills to include creative direction and production in the fundraising arena for area and national non-profit organizations. Local producing/performance credits include performances benefitting: The Houston Women’s Home, AIDS Foundation Houston, Legacy Community Services, The Montrose Counseling Center, The Parish School, Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston, and many others.
Since 2023 Mr. Gayle has served as Director of Music and Fine Arts at Unity of Houston, and previously served as Music Doing Good’s Producing Director, and Program Director for Music Doing Good with Instruments.Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Apollo Chamber Players, provides private vocal instruction/coaching, and is a passionate advocate of the Arts.
Carolyn Johnson has spent the last 35 years as an Equity actress, singer, directorand dialect, voice & acting coach. She regularly performs in Houston, Prague, Chicago, LA and Philadelphia, among others. Recent roles include Hamlet (Gertrude), Much Ado About Nothing (Beatrice) and Othello (Emilia) for Prague Shakespeare Company, The Thin Place (Hilda) for Fourth Wall Theatre, Sunrise Coven (Winter), MacGyver: The Musical (Hilde, World Premiere), End of The Rainbow (Judy Garland) and Luna Gale (Caroline) for Stages Repertory Theatre, for which she won the 2017 Houston Press Best Actress Award. She has been the dialect and vocal coach on a myriad of productions, most recently, Seared and The Glass Menagerie for The Alley Theatre. Notably, Carolyn dialect coached for the opera, Dead Man Walking, starring Joyce DiDonato, at The Teatro Real Opera (Madrid, Spain) and The Barbican/BBC Symphony (London). She has also coached for Houston Grand Opera, Prague Shakespeare Co., Stages Repertory Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, among others, as well as on a number of film projects. Carolyn directs for the stage, both professionally and academically; most recently, See How They Run (Unity Theatre), Much Ado About Nothing and The Tempest for Prague Shakespeare Co. Carolyn also privately teaches/coaches accents and acting, and works with the online accent resource, AccentHelp.com.
Rodney Waters is a Jungian Analyst trained at the International School of Analytical Psychology in Zurich (ISAPZURICH) and sees clients through The Center for the Healing Arts and Sciences. Since 2009 he has given seminars and lectures at The Jung Center of Houston on topics including tattoos, music, mythology, film and literature. A long-time advocate for the use of music and art in the service of social causes, he has created projects to support language tutoring, refugee resettlement, HIV prevention programs, and student scholarships. Rodney came to Jungian psychology through his love of music and has been a professional pianist for 40 years. He has performed internationally and his recording with Curt Thompson of the complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano by American composer Charles Ives was named one of the top 10 recordings of Ives’ music by Gramophone Magazine and The New York Times. In 2019 he and Dr. John Price combined their musical interests with Jungian psychology by creating an original concert inspired by Jung’s Red Book, which they have performed in Houston as well as at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California.
