Potentially appropriate for 9 CEs*
Deepen your understanding of what makes a dream group "Jungian," and how a shared language can build community.
Description
Are you a therapist, have at least 20 hours of Jungian analysis, or are a professional that consciously engages with archetypal ideas in your work? Are you also interested in building community through the Jungian-based exploration of dreams?
Whether we are professionally engaged with the unconscious, or have spent a considerable amount of time working with our inner lives under the supervision of a depth psychological professional, the time spent in the depths changes how we see the world, and how others see and relate to us. When we convene and facilitate a group that intends to share dreams with each other, our familiarity with the depths invites an authenticity from the participants that can become difficult to manage without specialized training in becoming a gentle, but radical, container for the unexpected and sometimes fantastic elements that can arise. In this six week class, we will broaden our understanding of Jungian dream circles by exploring different types of active imagination and using some of C.G. Jung’s dreams as guides in our process as facilitators. We will continue to use breath work, sound and movement with examples of myth, fairy tales, film, music, astrology and Jungian concepts to light our way.
In order to participate in this class, the completion of Part I (which was taught in the previous fall semester) is a prerequisite. We will work with the reading material from Class 6 of Part I during Part II. Jennifer will supplement as we go along.
Jennifer Embry, Jungian analyst, MA, is a Zurich-trained Jungian analyst in private practice and is intrigued by the intersecting spaces of the body and the psyche – that space occupied by dreams, astrology, film, theater, nature, music, and sound. Jennifer delights in making room for the combination of play, inquiry, and knowing in order to manifest our truest desires, and is a lifelong student of this alchemical experiment we call being human on this planet.
