Description
Join this session for mindfulness practices while stilling with nature. Nature offers a natural sense of presence and possibly quieting the mind. Practices will integrate the connections of the elements of air, water, fire and earth with our own bodies. Additional, Mindfulness practices will include walking in nature, opening all of our sensory functions of seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting. Poetry will be included to offer nature perspectives.
No prior experience is necessary, only an openness and curiosity to be with and in nature.
This two hour session will be outside at Bell Park (4800 Montrose, 77006). Participants are encourage to dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather on the day of the program. Chairs, yoga mats, and foam blocks will be provided for seating, or you may bring your own. Sunscreen, water, and hats are encouraged.
Michele Pola, EdD, started her journey in 2007 into mindfulness initially through yoga, and in 2017 became a certified yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance at Joy Yoga University. In 2018, she became a trained facilitator through Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) of the Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Behavioral Medicine at UCLA. Today, she serves as a teacher of mindfulness with The Jung Center's Mind, Body, Spirit Institute, after having retired in 2014 with 35 years in the public and non-profit sector of education. Dr. Pola is an active member of American Leadership Forum (ALF) and has served numerous professional organizations, both as a volunteer and as a board member. One of her passions, after studying with Mark Coleman author of Awake in the Wild, is practicing mindfulness in nature. Michele is a certified mindfulness mentor and teacher and offers private mindfulness sessions in nature by appointment.
