This course will introduce students to the general topic of angels in Western Culture. It will briefly explore angels in religious history and explain the recent eclipse of angels in modern culture. Dr. Cole will share his own experiences and stories of clients he has worked with as a Spiritual Director. Students will be invited to share their own experiences or the stories of others they know. He will offer guided meditations, explore key angel paintings from the Middle Ages up to the early 21st century, and will suggest that we are entering a new era of hope and solidarity in which angels will be making a cultural comeback.
