What might we need to let go of in order to listen more deeply to an often-quieter voice within?
Description
An important aspect of the individuation process is developing our discernment about what we choose to hear, and what we need to let go of in order to listen more deeply to an often-quieter voice within. Join Jungian analyst Jennifer Embry for an exploration of how important sound was to C.G. Jung in the development of his diagnostics and his methods of bringing unconscious material to consciousness. Sonic alchemist Lauren Cook will speak about how the experience of writing and singing songs can lead to an understanding of the archetypal dimension of music. She will share her personal system of sounding, movement, and other techniques meant to create greater resonance with both our personal and the collective soul. Finish the evening by singing a lullaby created from Jung’s words, to pave the way for a night of dreaming.
This program is being offered ONLINE. Recordings will be distributed to registered participants only, and will not be availble for individual purchase.
All times are CT. Please contact onlinelearning@junghouston.org with any questions.
Please register early. Programs with four or fewer participants are subject to cancellation, 48 hours prior to their start.
*The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (TBHEC) has stopped pre-certifying ANY Continuing Education or Professional Development for mental health providers. The Jung Center cannot guarantee that the programs we provide will qualify for continuing education or Professional Development, nor can any other agency. The Jung Center uses high educational standards when selecting to designate events as "potentially appropriate for CEs", and in evaluating the outcomes of our educational services, and we believe them to meet the requirements of state licensing bodies. Jennifer Embry (MA, Jungian analyst) is a Zurich-trained Jungian analyst in private practice in Houston, Texas, and is intrigued by the intersecting spaces of the body and the psyche – that space occupied by dreams, astrology, film, theater, nature, music, and sound. Jennifer delights in making room for the combination of play, inquiry, and knowing in order to manifest our truest desires, and is a lifelong student of this alchemical experiment we call being human on this planet.
Lauren Cook is a musical alchemist who uses song as a vehicle to stimulate neuroplastic change within herself and those she works with or performs for. She is passionate about studying the effects of sound, movement, and word, using these tools to harness the power of her voice and create positive change for the listener.
