10am - 12pm CT

Explore the value of art and art education in our rapidly-changing times.

Description

Zygmunt Bauman coined the term "Liquid Modernity" to capture the fluid and rapidly changing nature of our era, marked by a lack of permanence, commitments, and guarantees. Join pianist and lecturer Chaden Yafi in uncovering why, in these conditions, it is crucial to promote aesthetic education, and for us all to recognize the shadowy but significant role that art plays in the life of our cultures. How does art fit into this quickly-changing landscape? Why is it more crucial than ever to advocate for aesthetic education? Explore these questions through lecture and discussion, and leave with a new idea of the importance of art in uncertain times.
