Summary

Jill Carroll | Thursday, Nov 6 | 6:30 - 8p CT | Challenge the cultural tendency to dehumanize by exploring its roots and learning concrete actions to foster greater awareness and promote individual and collective flourishing.

Description

Nearly everything in our culture moment entices us to view our world, other people and ourselves in stripped down ways that reduce all of us to a simple short list of qualities or attributes which put us in a box for easy definition and disposal. Widespread dehumanization is the result of this enticement, and is perhaps even the entire point of it. In this session, we will explore the ways in which we have been seduced by the temptation to de-humanize ourselves and others, and what we can do to minimize our susceptibility to these damaging enticements. The thriving and flourishing of our very lives, both individually and collectively, depend on it.
