CANCELLED: Personal Stories Workshop: Engaging Art and Memory for Reinvention (In-Person)

Admission

  • $65.00

Summary

Laura Spector | Saturday, Oct 18 | 1 - 4p CT | Engage in visual storytelling with artist Laura Spector as your guide.

Description

In this workshop that is open to all levels of art-makers, Laura will share the methods she used in her paintings — from choosing text and fonts to balancing composition — while focusing on two works currently on display.

You’ll then explore how to develop your own imagery and text to weave together a personal narrative. By the end, you’ll create a pencil sketch that begins your own story-driven artwork.

More about Laura's current exhibit:

Each painting begins with a word or phrase drawn from personal reflection, which she interprets through staged reference photos and layered compositions. Blending theatrical imagery with emotional depth, the series explores how we reconstruct meaning from our own histories. This talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at how Spector transforms internal language into visual storytelling.
