The Nones: Who Are They and What's Their Deal? (In-Person)
Admission
- $40.00
Summary
Description
The term "nones" is a name given to people who - when asked on forms or surveys about their religious affiliation - check the box labelled "none", indicating that they have no religious affiliation. This is a fast-growing group in the United States and now comprises 30% of the population - about a 100 million people. Scholars who study this group have lumped all 100 million of them into one undifferentiated category - until now. A new data set has now been collected that presents fascinating insights into the beliefs and practices of those who self-identify as "nones", and which show the significant diversity among folks in this category. Dr. Jill Carroll is a member of the working group of scholars who had early access to this data and will be presenting some of the key findings in this session.
